IRBD 2002 : Dynamics of Labour
Markets in Bangladesh
CPD prepared the Interim IRBD 2002 on the eve of
the Paris Consortium Meeting held in April 2002.
Besides an assessment of the macroeconomic performance
of Bangladesh and the emerging crisis in Bangladesh's
external sector during the early months of FY2002,
the Interim IRBD also contained reviews of the PRSP
Exercise in Bangladesh and the 100-day Programme
of the Government. The Interim IRBD 2002 was presented
at a dialogue on Bangladesh and the Forthcoming
Development Forum on March 6, 2002.
The updated version of Interim IRBD was presented
at the June 13, 2002 dialogue on State of the Bangladesh
Economy and Budget Responses 2002.

The thematic part of IRBD 2002 will focus on the
broad theme of Dynamics of Labour Markets in Bangladesh
and its Global Linkages.
CPD Brief on EEF for ICT Sector
CPD prepared a Policy Brief on Entrepreneurs Equity
Fund for the ICT Sector under the CPD programme
on Trade Policy and Monitoring the Impact of the
WTO. The policy brief was submitted to the Ministry
of Commerce.
The study suggested some important changes in the
operation of the fund and underscored the need to
set up venture capital funds to promote the emerging
ICT sector of the country. It may be mentioned that
some of the policy suggestions put forward in the
brief got reflected in the 2002-03 fiscal budget
of the country.

About CPD's
RDU
Ready and easy access to relevant
reference, information and data is important for
CPD's dialogue and research related activities.
To this end, CPD has set up a Reference and Documentation
Unit (RDU) in 2000. The RDU is putting special
emphasis on policy documents, unpublished reports
and other fugitive materials. Information generated
through CPD's dialogue programmes and its research
activities are also being systematically catalogued
at the RDU under the CDS/ISIS Programme introduced
by the UNESCO.
