SAPRIN Forum, Brussels
Professor Rehman Sobhan participated in the SAPRIN (Structural
Adjustment Participatory Review International Network)
Forum in Brussels on April 15, 2002, where he delivered
the keynote address on Correcting Injustice: Towards
A More Relevant Agenda for Structural Adjustment Reforms
in that forum.
ADB Conference at Shanghai,
China
The ADB organised a seminar titled Towards Asian Integration:
The Role of Regional Cooperation on May 9,2002 in preparation
for the 35th annual meeting of the ADB. Professor Rehman
Sobhan presented a paper titled Harnessing the Private
Sector in Regional Cooperation: The Experience in South
Asia at that seminar.
PRSP Conference, Berlin
The conference titled Beyond the Review: Sustainable
Poverty Reduction and PRSP-Challenges for Developing
Countries & Development Cooperation, organised by
GTZ and German Ministry for Development and Cooperation,
was held at Berlin during May 13-16, 2002. Professor
Rehman Sobhan presented a keynote paper titled Mainstreaming
Poverty Eradication: Moving from Micro to Macro Policy
Agenda at the Conference.
Oslo Open Forum
The Norwegian NGOs in collaboration with SAPRIN organised
an Open Forum of the NGOs in Oslo on June 23, 2002 as
a parallel event to the World Bank's ABCDE conference
also scheduled to be held in Oslo during June 24-26,2002.
Professor Rehman Sobhan presented a keynote paper on
the theme of The Incapacity of the Structural Adjustment
Reforms to Eradicating Poverty: An Agenda for Change
at the Forum. Ms. Utide Johnsen, Minister for Development
Cooperation of the Norwegian Government and one of the
Vice Presidents of the World Bank commented on Professor
Sobhan's paper.

Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya attended as Resource Person
a South Asian dialogue bannered Shaping the Future which
was organised by the Regional Centre for Strategic Studies
(RCSS), Colombo, Sri Lanka during May 25-29, 2002.
