Publication of the second CPD Quarterly which covers the April-June 2002 period testifies to CPD's continuing endeavour to keep its Fellows, friends and well-wishers abreast of the current and upcoming activities of the Centre. The first CPD Quarterly was published in July 2002.
During the second quarter of 2002 CPD conducted a survey for the Global Competitiveness Report 2002 and completed a study on the South Asia Sub-regional Economic Cooperation. Studies on the themes of Trade Potentials of the South Asian Economies, Marine Fisheries and the Child Labour Situation in Bangladesh were initiated during this time. CPD has also initiated the work on preparation of IRBD 2002 during this period.
CPD dialogue themes during this period included Financial Sector Reforms, Budget for FY2002-03 and Post-MFA Challenges for Bangladesh's RMG Sector. A major event during this period was the international dialogue on Trade, Intellectual Property and Biological Resources in Asia which was participated by experts and diplomats from the Geneva based missions dealing with the relevant issues in the WTO. A three-day seminar followed the dialogue.
CPD appreciates the constructive suggestions received on the first issue of the CPD Quarterly, and hopes to further improve the design and content of the subsequent issues.
