during October 24-25, 2002.

Professor Rehman Sobhan attended the Conference
on Debt and Development organised by EURODAD in
Copenhagen, Denmark during November 2-3, 2002.
There he presented a paper titled Eradicating
Poverty Through Correcting Injustice: An Agenda
for Change.

Seminar, Colombo
Professor Mustafizur Rahman participated in a
seminar on Implications of the Expiry of the MFA
for SAARC/ Commonwealth Member States, Post-2005.
The Seminar was organised by the Commonwealth
and SAARC Secretariats in collaboration with the
Export Development Board of Sri Lanka during December
11-12, 2002 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Professor Rahman
presented a paper titled South Asia's Textile
and Clothing Sector in the Context of MFA Phase-Out:

Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya presented a paper at
the EU-LDC network conference on Improving Global
Governance for Development Issues and Instruments
during December 8-10, 2002 held in Chiang Mai,
Thailand.

Environmental Assessment Tools, Hong Kong
Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya made a presentation
on CPD-UNEP Study at the conference on Reshaping
Environmental Assessments Tools for Sustainability
organised by the Chinese University of Hong Kong
during December 8-13, 2002 in Hong Kong.

•Preparatory Meeting
of the BCIM Forum, Kunming
CPD Programme Director (Transport and Communication),
Dr. M. Rahmatullah represented Bangladesh at the
preparatory meeting for the Fourth BCIM Forum
held in Myanmar in March, 2003 which was convened
at Kunming during December 25 - 27, 2002.

•Conference on Trade
Policy, WTO & South Asian Agriculture, Bhutan
Dr. Deb made a presentation on Bangladesh Agriculture
in the WTO Era. At the workshop on Trade Policy,
WTO, and South Asian Agriculture held in Bhutan
on November 26-30, 2002. The workshop was organised
jointly by the International Food Policy Research
Institute (IFPRI), the World Bank Institute and
the Ministry of Agriculture of Bhutan. He was
also a panel discussant at the session on Intellectual
Property Rights (IPR) and Agriculture in South
Asia: Rules and Issues.
