The Board of Trustees (BOT) of
the Centre for Policy Dialogue
(CPD) accorded a reception to
Professor Muhammad Yunus, a
founding trustee of the CPD, to
celebrate his award of Nobel
Peace Prize 2006. The reception
was held on January 24, 2007 at
the Spectra Convention Centre.
In his speech Professor Yunus
thanked the CPD for organising
the reception ceremony and
recalled the support with great
appreciation he received in the
past to launch Grameen Bank and
turn it into a world class
visionary organisation.
Congratulating Professor Yunus,
on behalf of the CPD family, CPD
Chairman Professor Rehman Sobhan
recalled his exceptional
contribution towards empowerment
of the poor in Bangladesh.
Professor Sobhan presented
Professor Yunus a Uttarya and a
Commemorative Memento especially
made for this occasion. Eminent
citizens of the country
including CPD Trustees, current
and former advisors of the
Caretaker Government, former
Ministers and MPs, political
leaders, high level government
officials, professionals,
academics, development
practitioners and civil society
leaders attended the reception
ceremony. CPD professionals
presented a cultural programme
on the occasion. CPD Executive
Director Debapriya Bhattacharya
conducted the reception
ceremony.
