The CPD participated at the 5th Conference of the BCIMB countries (Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar) which was held in Kunming, capital of the Yunnan province of China during 21-23 December, 2004. The CPD delegates included Professor Rehman Sobhan, Chairman, CPD; Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Research Director (Executive Director a.i.), CPD and Dr M Rahmatullah, Programme Director, CPD. The conference discussed ways and means for fostering a more close cooperation among the BCIM countries in the areas of transport and infrastructural development, trade and tourism and also in the areas of cultural exchange. Dr M Rahmatullah presented a paper at the conference on transport cooperation among the BCIM countries. Leading experts, academicians and representatives from governments of BCIM countries participated in the conference.
