In
its continuous dedication towards
stimulating wider public
participation in the country’s
policy making process, CPD
endeavours to create a national
environment conducive to open public
discussion on important policy
issues with a view to ensuring
domestic ownership over the policy
agenda and also building broad-based support for such
policies. CPD's civic activitism in
policy-related areas is
operationalised through various
means which are implemented
through concrete initiatives. In
order to move away from the
prevailing tradition of
rhetorical exchanges, CPD
designs the dialogue format in
such a way as to stimulate a
constructive engagement and
informed exchange of views. To
strengthen the information and
analytical base of the dialogue
process, CPD maintains an active
research portfolio that focuses
on critical issues of the day.
Also, to recognise the interface
between national concerns and
emerging regional and global
issues CPD organises seminars,
workshops and training
programmes.
Some of the major contributions CPD
has made to the nation include the
International
Civil Society Forum,
Post Doha
Marginalisation of LDC Concerns,
Policy Appreciation Workshop
and its
Policy
Brief Initiatives.
