Mr Nurul Haq did his
B.Sc (Hons.) and M.Sc in
physics in 1954 and 1955
respectively from the
Dhaka University. He did
his M.Sc in Transport
Studies from the
Cranfield Institute of
Technology (CIT),
England, in 1976.
He joined the then
Pakistan Railway Service
in October, 1957 on the
basis of the Central
Superior Services
Examination held in 1956
and worked in various
capacities upto October,
1972.
He joined the Bangladesh
Planning Commission as a
Section Chief (Joint
Chief) in October, 1972
and held various
position in the Planning
Commission and in the
PIB (now IMED).
In 1989, he was made a
Secretary to the
Government of the
People’s Republic of
Bangladesh and was
posted as the Member
in-charge of the
Physical Infrastructure
Division of the Planning
Commission.
He retired from the
government service on
December 30, 1990.
He worked as a local
consultant in the
Organisation Reforms
Project of the
Bangladesh Railway,
funded by the Asian
Development Bank
1994-1995.
He joined the Centre for
Policy Dialogue as
Director (Dialogue and
Administration) in
November, 1995 and
continued till June,
1999 although his
responsibility for
dialogue was only for
the first two years. It
may be mentioned that he
was one of the founder
Trustee Members of the
CPD.
